Loving:
The World of Sexual Dominance & Submission
By
Gloria G. Brame, William D. Brame
& Jon Jacobs
Different
Loving discusses a vast range of S/M D/s B/D and fetish activities. The first
section starts with a brief history from Victorian times through the emergence
of the Leather community to the present day, followed by a look at scientific/
psychological studies, "Safe Sane & Consensual", and power
balances in BDSM relationships.
The main body of the book discusses different BDSM play types, toys and
fetishes. It gives, in each case, a description of the practice, a "How
to" section, and interviews with practitioners. Chapters include Lifestyle
D/s, Corporal Punishment, Role Play, Age Play, Gender Play, and a variety of
other fetishes.
The book is not meant to be a definitive guide to each subject, but gives an
excellent overview to BDSM and Fetishism as a starting point for those who want
to find out more.

Studies in Dominance and Submission
Edited
by Thomas S. Weinberg
What
is Sadomasochism? What factors influence people to choose a lifestyle that is
often viewed as bizarre by outsiders? What are the forms of sexual expression
in a sadomasochistic relationship? Sociologist Thomas S. Weinberg has collected
recent research and writings on sadomasochism which explore
the social world of SM through survey research, content analyses, and personal
histories. Eighteen articles offer an overview of an often misunderstood area
of human sexuality. Topics include gay and lesbian SM, women in the scene, SM
organizations, and the increasing integration of SM themes into areas of
popular culture such as the arts, literature, mass media and fashion.
Thomas S. Weinberg is a professor of sociology at the
Miss
Abernathy’s Concise Slave Training Manual
By
Christina Abernathy
This
"slave training" book deals with many aspects of service ("slavehood" as she prefers) one by one, including types
of servant, rituals, forms of service, punishment, The Collar, and tools of the
trade. She then moves on to more general D/s relationship issues, including
ethics, personal integrity for both Owners and slaves, contracts and the
practicalities of full time, 24/7 relationships.
The
Sleeping Beauty Novels (Volumes 1-3)
By
Anne Rice, writing as A.N. Roquelaure
Anne
Rice casts her lurid gaze upon the traditional tale of "Sleeping
Beauty" under the pen name of A.N. Roquelaure.
Her re-telling of the Beauty story probes the unspoken implications of this
lush, suggestive tale by exploring its undeniable connection to sexual desire.
These stories are reminiscent of the charged erotica of her novel Belinda.
The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty: In the traditional folk tale "Sleeping
Beauty", the spell cast upon the lovely young princess and everyone in her
castle can only be broken by the kiss of a Prince. Anne Rice's retelling of the
Beauty story probes the unspoken implications of this lush, suggestive tale by
exploring its undeniable connection to sexual desire.
Beauty's Punishment, the sequel, continues Beauty’s explicit, teasing
exploration of the psychology of human desire. Beauty, having indulged in a
secret and forbidden infatuation with the rebellious slave Prince Tristan, is
sent away from the Satyricon-like world of the
castle. Once again Rice's fabulous tale of pleasure and pain dares to explore
the most primal and well-hidden desires of the human heart.
In Beauty's Release, the final volume of Anne Rice's deliciously tantalizing
erotic trilogy, Beauty's adventures on the dark side of sexuality make her the
bound captive of an Eastern Sultan and a prisoner in the exotic confines of the
harem. In Beauty's Release, Anne Rice makes the forbidden side of passion a
doorway into the hidden regions of the psyche and the heart.

The
Marketplace, The Slave, The Trainer
By
Antoniou (writing as Sara Adamson)
If
you like BDSM Fiction, your bookcase is incomplete without The Marketplace
Trilogy. Laura Antoniou has created an entire world and you learn the
backgrounds of all the characters.
The Marketplace focuses on the mid-level training of four already experienced
submissives and getting them ready for sale within the fictional Marketplace.
There is actual growth of the main characters in response to the training they
receive, and a look back at their past and how each of them got involved in
being slaves. Attention is also paid to the owners and trainers. This is the
best all you're after is some kinky sex scenes you should choose another book
to read.
The Slave is the sequel to The Marketplace. Where The Marketplace looks at the
basic training of four slaves withing a training
house, this book looks at the training, and subsequent life of an individual
slave. The Marketplace world is expanded and explained in more detail, making
the glimpses more tangible. The role and expectations of a slave are much more
fully explored, as are the slaves reactions to her
treatment. In intensity and quality The Slave picks up right where The
Marketplace left off.
The Trainer is the last book in the Marketplace trilogy. It is a very full look
at the difference between what makes a trainer, and what makes a good/great
trainer. The Marketplace world is expanded even more, and the role of the
trainer is explained. If you've ever been looking for ideas on how to train
your slave (or would be slave) this book has several ideas. Again there is sex
in the book, but an absence of hot sex, however the D/s elements are wonderful
and more than make up for it.
